Purpose Beyond Self

Welcome to my journey of perfecting things, people and myself. This is my quest for perfection of self through the improvement of others. I produce systems which encourage growth.

Getting to NO

One of the most powerful fears for every single person is to hear the word "No".

This is what I was hearing all throughout my life.

When I was a kid I was kind of big and chubby. Girls said No. Writing poetry did not help. Yes was reserved for guys who knew how to ride bikes.

Later I have started a sales career. No was part of my life.

Today I hear No from my team on the number of occasions.

Lets sell more of our goods. No we are not ready.

But we are.

Lets push our product. No we do not have the resources.

But we are resourceful.

Lets raise 5 million. No there are not much investors in Europe.

But there are some.

Even worse is that you start saying No to yourself. No way.

No is cutting our lives. With the surgical precision.

Suddenly No becomes a tool in our box. The desire for Yes seems to be hidden at the outskirts of our cognition.

This story is and it has always been - about yes more then the no.

Yes which we truly desire, every single one of us.

Rapid prototyping leads to rapid failure

This post is about lean startup, customer validation, rapid prototyping and other fancy words which are killing your company in a manner of nice English solicitor.

Never show unfinished products to your clients and ask for feedback. Junk should be called its real name. By giving it fancy names like minimum viable product you could only get maximum customer dissatisfaction.

Lean startup means you are thin, poor and ugly. It means you do not have money nor time nor energy to do the things at the right standard. And most probably you are a pussy too. Screw lean, we need fat features and and true leadership. Not leanership. This is the cure for focus deficit disorder. Sadly enough focus groups are not the same as AA groups. Your focus is your product.

Transformational power of your company lies in the single fact of shipping flawless product empowering your clients with benefits they cannot get anywhere else. And this is not easy. But we are not here for easy, aren't we?

Customer validation. I love people who have the imagination to coin these phrases. Customer validation is revenue. Customer validation are margins. Clients who are not willing to pay margins are just squeezing every single energy cell out of your poor lean startup. Cancel the contracts.

Free pilots. Free pilots are kamikaze pilots. Charge everything. Kerosine is flammable. Highly flammable.

Fuck all that. Lets coin the word for new breed of Iron CEOs and cofounders. Focused habits. This is something we truly believe and you will have the opportunity to find out why. Soon.

This blog post is written above Austria in Croatia Airlines plane returning home from Zagreb to Amsterdam.

I am using this opportunity to say thanks to Croatia Airlines for their cramped seats which enabled me to accelerate from procrastination to purposefulness.

Cosy life. Indeed.

I love you. And I am proud of you.

Comms are down

At Monolith our team is working around the clock to deliver the vision of frictionless shopping and world itself. Highly dedicated troops and fighters which I would never replace by 10 professionals against one Monolith trooper.

But sometimes we do not answer important emails. I am the first one to blame. So I decided to change it. Comms are down. No more.

I have decided to dispatch a letter to our team by inspiring myself with the work of the most famous Croatian thinker Vlado Gotovac whom I appreciate and admire. After hearing his speeches I immediately felt I need to address an important issue in his manner. Without further a due - here it is:

Letter to MONOLITH

I am addressing you, worried about futile balance of unanswered emails, especially the 600 days email. Expectations and hopes which Monolith is grounding in your endeavours are lost or postponed to uncertainty.

I love you and I am proud of you. Our company is based upon design for the success of others. Some people call it altruism. To exists means to mutually enable each other.

Sometimes we are blurring our vision by radically changing messages, speeches and principles. But this is only because our time cannot endure subtle problems, but rather those capital ones - on any given Day. We are in the need of great stances and not skilled treatment of hidden details. I am not attacking such work. These procedures have their value though they cannot bring important solutions.

What is needed is a vision worthy of our situation - both radical and comprehensive.

The Impact

Not more then 10 minutes after I dispatched the letter I got a call from my friend and our Customer Satisfaction Director Chemel saying he was inspired by my email and that he is indeed writing his own story as we speak. That was enough for me. One person per email.
